The peak body will work as a lobbyist and advocate on behalf of the Nepalese community associations of Australia while lobbying and advocating the Australian Federal and State Governments and other stakeholders for the greater benefit of the Nepalese community in Australia. The Taskforce has held several meetings and is in the process of forming a National Consultative Committee (NCC) at the national level and State Consultative Committees (SCCs) in all States and Territories of Australia. NCC, whose main objective is to assist Taskforce to establish the proposed peak body, will comprise senior community leaders representing all eight States and Territories.
On the other hand, SCCs, whose main objective is to help Taskforce to organise community consultation meetings in their respective States/Territories in order to engage community members in the establishment of the proposed peak body, will consist of a coordinator and a reasonable number of members, depending upon the number of the legally registered Nepalese community associations operating in the State or Territory.
The Taskforce will be inclusive as much as possible while nominating the members of NCC and SCCs. In other words, an attempt will be made to include individuals from different backgrounds to bring equality in gender, profession, geographical areas etc. NCC and SCC will automatically be dissolved once the Taskforce completes its task of establishing the peak body.
